Class Dates and Hiring

I've heard from more than one person that 40ish is the October class size and there are cadets being sent in for drug testing and background checks, so this likely checks out. Good to hear. With the deferrals and slow-ish attrition I was really wondering if we were about to be in an extended period of slow hiring.

Sept- 10? 40?
Ive heard both. My source is pretty high up in the training department and said 40. Also, I thought they said 40 per class until the end of the year but we shall see. Math would make sense if we need about 2220 at the end of the year and we are at 2114. Attrition is pulling 15-20 per month again since the summer slowdown.

Attrition is about the only way were going to get a contract any time soon. Anyone excited about class dates should have their head examined. I sure wouldn't want to be a new hire after the strike vote. Talk about not being welcome......

What about a strike vote has anything to do with being a new hire? That may be one of the most ridiculous things I've read on apc. It's part of the business and we are miles from an actual strike. There are about 1000 hurdles before that even comes close to fruition.

We had run a full size class every month from June ‘21 until Feb ‘24. It’s been sporadic and unpredictable this year so far.

The 40 you're hearing about is for October and that seems all but confirmed at this point. Hopefully that will be official by Friday this week or next.
This is such a gross mindset. The two are unrelated.

Brad said in a recurrent class recently that they have roughly 800 cadets in the pipeline to cover our new hire classes. Attrition and new hires is not a concern for management.

Your source is wrong, misspoke, or you misunderstood them. It's confirmed that the September class only has 10 - hence the fact there are only 5 newhire FTD pairings on the schedule for October. That is to say, they only hired 10 people.

Also they've been stringing along so many cadets who have the hours (since 2023 still) & are ready with false promises that many have moved on or are seeking other opportunities. They're already seeing what it's like to work here.
Go check out their sentiments on the frontiercadetprogram group on reddit.

I know there are still some out there who want/hope for/expect a contract soon. Please, please, please, go to the ALPA website, FFT MEC webpage and LISTEN TO THE PODCASTS from the Negotiating Committee. EVERY SINGLE PILOT on the seniority list should do this. Some of you need to listen to it twice. It will explain the ENTIRE negotiating process, the timeline to strike and ALL the steps needed prior and how all that went during last negotiations.

Not only we (the line CAs) are teaching cadets how to fly a jet, 121 ops, now unions can be added to that list.
