Where do you want to be when the music stops? Your regional waiting for a flow or a major airline ? A year 2 F/O at Frontier makes more than the most senior CA at any regional year 20 would. Plus 15% DC. Plus you’ll be home based. We have our issues here now but to me your question is a no brainer.

Just looking for opinions. If you were about to upgrade at a regional such as C5, and had interviews on the table with JB and F9 (I live in Tampa and do hate the commute but not willing to move) would you take one of those two options if offered or hold out and upgrade to become marketable to somewhere like Delta. I’ve been going back and forth 1000 times about what best move would be, both for quality of life and long term benefits. As we all know, if you’re at a regional, the future is bleak. Get out while I can?
Currently in the aviate program but really don’t have any faith in it especially after the recent changes.
Thanks

If you're young (under age 40 or so), and are planning to use the LCC as a stepping stone I'd pick the one who has the best domicile for you. All other things being equal, I can't help but think JetBlue is a better place than Frontier, but I'm really down on Frontier at the moment for a variety of reasons, so feel free to take that with a grain of salt.

To answer your basic question: Yes, absolutely move on from the regional as soon as you can. As 303flyboy correctly states, the music can stop at any time. You'd much rather be at ANY mainline carrier rather than hoping to upgrade at a regional or even being a captain at a regional if the music stops.

I will preface this that this is my last month at OO and am going to F9. So had similar decision process.

Sorry, but I don’t know any ORD pilot who thought that!! We were doing 8-10 flights a day out of ORD for a couple years or more. We knew we were on the chopping block. The rumor had been around for a few years. I was upset about the closure, but I’d seen it coming way before it happened. My 2 cents.

F9 is very competitive over JB and with the pending merger there is likely good things to become. You said you have interviews on the table at both. Go to the interviews and see if you get offers from both then decide based on your experience. Both are great options over upgrading at a regional. All the big carriers are hiring without the historic TPIC time. I know my answer would be F9 if I lived in TPA.
