How has ATL positioned itself seniority wise since it opened? Would it be possible to hold it out of training? How about within a year?

I'm guessing that you wouldn't get it immediately out of training just because it's still so small. But I definitely think you could get in there quickly. I know some of the new hires were just awarded MIA

Most junior ATL FO award on the last bid is a June '21 hire. But as said above, it's far too new and still far too small to know how it will ultimately shake out. Any guesses would be pure speculation at this point.

There appears to be a lot of sand bagging from pilots on new bases until it reaches the 50 plus mark looking at history. I agree with above, way to early to tell with ATL.

I am a 2019 hire and holding off until the base grows more. No reason to commute for day trips or RSV until more flying and lines open up. I know there are a lot of us in Charlotte and the Carolinas waiting to see how this base pans out. I’m guessing will eventually go senior.

Thanks! I just got offered a class date and am beyond excited to join the Frontier pilot group. I'm still pinching myself. Living in ATL the base opening was one of the big deciding factors, and hopefully I can eventually get based there and drive to work. In the meantime, what would you recommend for an ATL commuter between MCO, MIA, or PHL?

I’d probably first look at the frequency of F9 flights, then total flights between ATL and each one. The most options, and early and late options are key. There’s A rsv (0300-1330), C (1200-2230), and D (1700-0000). So you can use that to figure out which base may be most commutable. I’m thinking MIA. Not a fan of commuting to MCO with Disney and all. You could drive to MCO or TPA in a bind though. Congrats and welcome.

Heard more vacancies opened in ATL, any insight on how junior/senior it's looking now?

They are moving 42 of the Chicago FO positions to ATL. This is causing a fairly wide systemic “bump and flush”. There have been no awards yet (closes on the 1st) but the current projection does have a few guys still in new hire ground school getting ATL FO awarded.

This bid will probably be one of the most significant shuffles we've had in years.

For those outside the company, this bid closes Chicago, adds significantly to ATL and smaller amounts in Tampa, Miami, Orlando and Las Vegas.

Of note: not a single vacancy was opened in DEN with the closing of Chicago. Very disappointing for the "Denver Flying Club"
