Commuting from RDU…

Cheers!
It's difficult to say since MIA has only been open a little more than a year. As with some of our smaller bases, a lot of trips start early and end late, making them tough to commute to. That being said, it's gone junior in the last few bids and is still growing so relative seniority and trip composition will continue to evolve.

MCO is our second-largest base, has a large variety of flying, and likely has more commutable trips. I know we have more than a few RDU commuters and many of them commute to MCO.

It's not much, but I hope it helps.

I would think MCO is a better bet for you.

More flights per day is a really important factor. Plus, with MCO being a substantially bigger base I think you have more freedom in bidding, open time, etc.

At some point B.C. (Before Covid) we had 33 destinations from RDU ! It’s slowly growing back but yeah fairly large group of F9 people living there. If you are senior just like everywhere else life is good. Plus MCO, MIA and PHL are short flights.

May potentially seek a move to FL to a base, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t secretly hoping for an RDU base. I know speculation was there for the last few years. It appears other places like PHX are in line first, or seems to make more sense right now. But a guy can dream!

Thanks for all the replies!

There may be a few people moving that way if ORD keeps shrinking

Spirit dropped 30 routes into MIA. Either they really want to target AA or we are about to pull an AUS again and run.

MIA is already a base, AUS never became one.

Someone should take a few minutes at look at how many of the routes overlap with ours.

And on specific days. I know we serve a lot of cities 3 or 4 days a week. Some of the overlap routes with Spirit could operate on different days.

This is going to be interesting to see how it plays out
