Aren’t all chaps ass-less? Otherwise they’d just be pants?

Stop making a fool of yourself. Sure, maybe $3000/mo BEFORE taxes, insurance and other deductions is fine if:

-You have no family
-Live in a ****hole apartment
-Live on a diet of ramen
-Want minimal health insurance
-Have no other debts

The "paying your dues" mentality is archaic and proven to hurt the pilot group as a whole. Don't give me this "recruitment tool" bullcrap. You need those pilots below you to advance your career.

I would like to advance my career (financially) first before advancing the careers of those that aren’t even here yet. I agree with ALPA’s strategy on this one. If the company wants to attract new hires than they need to first make it a desirable company for those that are already here.

I thought I paid my dues while I had a crappy job building time and then later when I flew at the regionals. Guess now I have to pay my ulcc dues so one day I can be paid back.

Delta +1 with pay with all of the other things you don't have now that you might need? I imagine that F9 would be the highest paid AB pilots in the world with great work rules if it wasn't for Spirit bringing them down . You F9 people ( not all obviously) and some people at NK who think they are owed the world and expect nothing less have a serious wake up call coming. If it's a bad deal in the end they will vote no, but most at Spirit aren't waiting for a world record contract. Just the best that they think is available considering all of the info given.
Ok, let me explain my thought process...

First of all, we don’t have PBS nor do any of the pilots I know at the company want it.

Second, I’m aware of the uniqueness of the airline industry but there is NO WAY I’m voluntarily settling for industry standard or slightly better. If that’s the strategy of my union, then so be it. If I’m outvoted by my fellow pilots, so be it. But I for one KNOW that the smartest play is one of two things - to ask for industry leading wages and quality of life issues NOw while the industry is at an all time high or to be told by the NMB to take whichever offer they deem as enough. It’s amazing how many pilots want to tell themselves that XX% raise is “good enough” despite that raise still falling way short of everyone else. If I’m being paid 200% less than everyone else, I will never ever be happy with an offer of 100% (despite how much of an increase that looks like on paper). I don’t think for a second F9 management would find that pay raise adequate for themselves as they currently earn what other managements earn. Indigo is PRINTING money in this fiscal environment and dam$it they should share it. Their history of being greedy has no affect on my thoughts about what my value is and what this market shows that I’m worth. Right now, Indigo couple pay every single pilot double what they currently make and they would still make millions.

Third, why would you (if you truly are a pilot) want for me or anyone else to be limited on our offer regardless of how much you do or do not make? What’s the matter with you bro? If you, Delta, Kallita, FedEx or even Great Lakes can come up on their contract, I’d be genuinely happy for that group (as that would mean more for me down the road most likely).

It’s amazing how many so called Spirit pilots are posting in an F9 thread days after their AIP gets announced trying to throw shade on our discussion of how your offer won’t work for us.

Lastly, F9 pilots, at one point, where the highest paid narrow body flying groups. The company survived 9/11 and the following recession with a voluntary concessionary contract for both management and labor groups. Indigo came in and screwed everyone. And despite it all, the pilots have remained a rule abiding group - your pilot group has existed for a far shorter period of time and has already been was found guilty of an illegal work action. To boot (in our favor), Indigo has been found guilty of not bargaining in good faith.

So Hell no, I will never vote yes for that raggedy AIP you got. I expect far more. If I end up with less, it will be without my vote.

Guys guys guys... why are we arguing about first year pay??? No one is showing up to this dumpster fire anyway... that’s been evidenced by the pathetic interview rates...and I’m talking about the 6/20 people that even show up... then they hire two and one shows up to class... at that rate they’ll have to invite 400 people to interview just to fill the March class... as for a sign on bonus, the union had damn well better not let that happen unless every pilot on the property is given the exact same bonus...

Our union can’t dictate how the company handles new hires and their hiring bonuses, new hires are probationary (non-union) pilots.

Our MEC has been telling us your TRO with management cost you at least 6 months in reaching a TA and that your pilot group would pay for that TRO through a substandard contract.

If any of that is true, we should be fighting for more. If it's not,
