Frontier Negotiations Discussion
#2721
Indigo has come to the table with an offer. Otherwise the NC and MEC wouldn't be there all week. And now the Company is pointing to our 'peer contracts' and saying 'they all have PBS, it's industry standard, and so should we'. And the NMB is going to agree with them. Probably has already. Not that there is anything wrong with PBS for the right price. But, the Frontier pilots will not get the right price.

I can understand your confusion. It's neither speculation nor is it solid information. It's 'leaked' information... falls between the cracks. You know, stuff that comes from a guy that knows a guy that's in the know. Either way, it is what is going on and what is coming. You can wait for it to be official or you can start thinking about it now. I just think it's good to discuss it sooner then later so peoples voices can be heard before decisions are made. It's easier to steer a decision then it is to overturn one.

My fear is that people may see “big” dollar signs and lose sight of what we’ll be giving up. Coupled with the fact that any pbs system that the company agrees to will not be one that I want to work under.
Also, I am not going to support any TA that has something similar to Spirit’s contract with regard to future negotiations and pbs (ie: the company and the union agree to meet over the next several months and negotiate the details of pbs including vendor, parameters, etc). If I can’t see details up front there’s no way I’ll support any agreement.

Agreed wholeheartedly. This is what I’ve been saying for the last week. All the naysayers who say we shouldn’t discuss the pros and cons of pbs are potentially going to be blindsided by pbs and then scrambling to figure out what is and isn’t acceptable within pbs itself. However, if that happens they’ll be inundated with spin from union leadership only focusing on the positives.

And if it gets out of the hands of the MEC it will likely pass and the company knows this.
Our only hope is stopping this at the negotiating table.

Somewhere, in a room of the NMB’s D.C. Headquarters, there is a company lackey with a signed non-disclosure agreement from our union. That company mouthpiece is pumping smoke up the buttts of our NC and MEC members. They say it’s privileged information but instead it’s a just a tall tale of an imminent merger, or sale of the company, etc. Something that gives us an ultimatum to “take this deal now or see what happens to you otherwise.” It’s a old trick, a long period of silence followed by a “Last, Best, and Final” offer. I’ve seen the unions fall for it before; they’re frankly grown tired and too afraid to see what’s on the other side so they take the bait.
If that’s truly happening here, I can only hope they don’t take the bait.

Yeah if PBS is going to be apart of the deal, industry average rates, insurance, LTD, and retirement better be included for me to even make me consider it. They will have to do a lot better than Spirit. I hope it’s not agreed upon, I really hope it’s not.
