Talking

A whole bunch of people keep saying we should stop talking about PBS, but half of those people keep talking about PBS.

If you are worried about how it may affect negotiations, then how about this?

Only people who absolutely hate PBS and wouldn’t trade anything away to Indigo for it are allowed to keep talking about PBS! Bash away, give nothing, keep everything. Crush Barry, see him driven before you, hear the lamentations of his men!

This preserves our strong bargaining position and doesn’t undermine our negotiating efforts.

Or you could be one of those indefinites that keeps telling us how something that ONLY Indigo has proposed (not ALPA, just Indigo) might be an okay thing...with the right circumstances... and different people...and about 8 other sets of circumstances that we would have to give up something else to get...yadda yadda yadda

Exactly this. It’s fun to get excited about a rare and vaguely unpessemistic negotiations update...but it really didn’t say anything.

Until we hear the word “AIP” or “TA” from our NC/MEC this is situation normal. Let the past dictate he future. For those here fly the contract, for those not here steer clear. Nothing to see here, folks.

It's oddly been radio silent this whole time. It means one of two things, we are really getting close to wrapping this up? OR, we are about to be sold down the river on the mighty S.S. PBS.

They had to sign a gag order that’s why it’s been so quiet.

Riiiiiiight...how very intriguing. Such a “cloak and dagger” mystery. Or more likely there is just nothing to report. This isn’t unusual at all. They have never done a mid-session update. They have always finished the meetings before composing an update then sent the info out to the pilots that tells us all we are screwed. Wash, rinse, repeat. Why anybody is expecting anything else is beyond me.

They always have a gag order during sessions. I understand they never give updates during the middle of the sessions and that is why. Trust me I really think everyone is getting their hopes up too. The company wants to get the contract done I’m sure, but not at the economic value we want it done at. If the company wants to finally play ball I feel like we need to stick firm with our ask. The company will start to feel the pain pretty soon and they will have to pay up for the bull$&@$ games they’ve played all this time.

100% agree with this. If we get too giddy now, it undermines our strength. Leverage is ours and more so everyday. We've been patient for a very long time, we must see it through the right way.

We've always owned the long game, and truth is they've probably known that too. That's why they socked it to us so hard in the short run, so that we'd have to pay for part of our raise when it comes. Well that and the hope that we'd just roll over at some point. Was never going to happen.

Some mistakes were made along the way like (LOA 76 IMHO) for which we received nothing, but that's ok, we learned from it. Now we're in the spot we've been waiting for. A position of strength.

Get the ask! Don't give an inch unless it results in a fair honest exchange worth moving the process forward. There is no value in goodwill ever since someone laid down that gauntlet. If I hear we gave up anything to try and please the NMB or soften the company toward our plight or whatever, I'll lose it! But that won't happen. Our guys know what they're doing now, and they know who they're dealing with. If my hopes are high, it's only in that. I'm prepared to wait this out forever before I settle for NK. Sorry.
