You are high AF. You set preferences or parameters that target specific pairings. Maybe the PBS system that you have years of experience with called trips something different but the one that I used for nearly a decade referred to them as PAIRINGS.

Here, read the wiki. Scroll down to “PBS”...

PBS uses your preferences to pick the parings. You have never used PBS...

The PBS I worked under absolutely allowed you to cherry pick pairings by pairing number. Of course this only worked well if you were senior, or if you were cherry picking the nasty pairings nobody wanted. Preferences could be as specific as a pairing number or as general as any pairing departing on a Monday for example.

PS I hated it! I've always liked paper bidding better.

Multiple pages of vitriol over PBS when literally NO ONE from the NC has mentioned PBS being back on the table.

Y’all arent going to make it to 65.

Take a deep breath, drink a beer, throw a football with your kids, have a coke and a smile and shut the hell up.

I disagree with the sentiment. We don’t know what we’re eventually going to be voting on but IF the NC decides they’d rather have a deal with PBS than no deal at all then all we’re going to hear from the union is how PBS is not that bad and that it’s a great contract. There will be little opportunity to hear any dissenting opinions, not to mention that if everyone who is against PBS lets the NC know now that they’re not interested in anything with PBS maybe the NC will just let the company stew some more.

No one here is openly discussing nitty gritty details of what they would and would not accept in a TA. We’re just discussing the pros and cons of PBS. I think at least one person (therapysession) has learned something about how it works. That’s the point of this whole thing.

I’m anti-PBS myself and won’t support anything that resembles it, but if someday we vote it in I’ll feel better knowing that at least my fellow pilots knew what they were voting for. I don’t mind being in the minority as long as the majority is educated and not ignorant.

Our only leverage to get a new contract is the fact they need to hire to fill these planes PBS is a hard no no matter what. It’s the only leverage we will have next contract go around. If they want PBS they need to be offering PBS rates not line bidding rates and asking for PBS.

I agree. If we can fend off PBS this time, and be brought "into the pattern" we will be in a good position going forward. The company is going to demand PBS on the next contract and at that point, we will have leverage to reach for industry leading pay. If we give up our work rules and line bidding now, just to be brought into the pattern, we will have no leverage next time.

Again, PBS uses your preferences to pick the pairings. If your preference was a certain pairing then it would try to get it for you based on your seniority. Everything with PBS is about Seniority assuming the company didn't force PBS to unstack everyone.

For me
PBS = automatic No vote

By the time the next contract coes along I'll be long gone
