Still undecided. I'm waiting for our reps to inform us what's best for us.

Pairings don’t exist????

The primary difference between line bidding and PBS is that you bid for pairings instead of lines. Misspoke? Or...

No idea what I'm talking about? Coming from you, that's rich!
Actually no they don't. You have no idea what the pairings are, hence the name "preference bid." You put in your preferences then boom you get a schedule. So yes I'm correct. There are zero pairings that you can cherry pick. Still no idea what you're talking about.

Wrong. You bid for PREFRENCES. Seriously people, before you write pages of PBS bs at least have a knowledge of what it is.

My airline uses PBS. One of the preferences that we can bid is "desire specific pairing XXXXX," which allows us to cherry-pick pairings and basically build our own lines if we're senior enough. We get a published list of all available pairings at the beginning of each bid period.

Obviously, it's not a guarantee that F9 would configure a PBS that way (and I sure as h3ll am not going to get involved in whether PBS would work for F9 pilots ), but bidding by preferences and bidding for pairings don't have to be mutually exclusive in a PBS.

I don’t think you have actually used PBS. There are several versions but all essentially do the same thing. Pairings or rotations are built exactly the same as with line bidding. You can view all the pairings before bidding. There are multiple ways to bid. I am senior enough to simply click on and bid the specific pairings I want. You can also put preferences in the system instead. Preferences are just another way of telling PBS what pairings you want.
