Everybody is getting a contract (mtx, ground personnel, dispatchers).
The FAs will be next, and we will get ours by spring right before the IPO, they won't want any labor disputes before that. Anybody who is following the economy can assume that is the plan. Increase oil and interest rates, a teetering stock market, and elections. They will want to get out while the getting is good and we go into the next recession.

Their option to give us extra vacation he following year or to pay us out at the end of this year. Guess which option they chose? Of course, paying us out at straight time when normally people turn vacation months into high credit months paid at 125% for much of it. This was not about covering open flying. It was retaliation and cost cutting. No other explanation and I expect to be compensated by the grievance and/or the lawsuit.

By the way if you have had your vacation taken away anything over 82 credit with the inclusion of the vac credit will be paid at premium for dec. A vacation day is worth 4.167 credit. So depending on how many you've lost your basically starting decembers bid period with that credit. Also, just a friendly reminder, they are required to reimburse ANY non refundable costs associated with your vacation.

I understand your frustration. Just letting pilots know of their options. You mentioned they did it in part to cut costs (I completely agree). I outlined options that could make it more expensive for them to take your vacation (to the point it would have been cheaper for them to not take your vacation).

I've been told their watching for this so I would guess you would get a call from the chief pilots office? FMLA is always a good option. Doctors notes are good (even though were NOT contractually required to provide them). Think of them as an ace in the hole. Familiarizing yourself with the contractual provisions that allow you use sick leave is helpful. (sec 15). (15.A.1.B. is pretty good language, Ill be looking at it closely to make sure it doesn't change in any potential TA). If your sick please don't come to work. One more thing, if/when you do call in sick its, paraphrasing ," mark me in sick for sequence xxxx ". No further explanation required. Don't get yourself into trouble trying to explain why your calling in sick on a recorded phone line.
