Quote from the newsletter
“Association representatives remain willing to work hard and in good faith to complete an agreement, but we're skeptical the Company intends to make the market-based pay and retirement adjustments needed to conclude negotiations. It could have done so already during the time that passed since our last mediation session.”
I for one am not very optimistic there will be substaial gains. And our negotiators need to stand their ground.

Nothing will get done here but maybe we’ll at least gain a little more favor in the eye of the NMB.

I wasn't happy about this either, but I'm realizing that something is better than nothing. It's been 5 or 6 months since we've done anything? I think depression has sunk in for a lot of us as it doesnt look like this is getting done for another year or better, but we have to start somewhere. All this meeting is going to do is pi$$ off the NC and the pilot group, but we have to get the ball rolling.

I wish we could, but it'll never happen. The NMB is waiting for our case to unfold just like any other angry labor group. Our problem is that we aren't angry enough to get it done. Are we seriously going to sit here and expect potential candidates do the heavy lifting for us? Saying "don't come here" is fine, but this is OUR fight. We all know that guys hired now are getting scraped from the bottom, no need to rub it in their face.
Nothing will happen unless WE make it happen. Not the MEC, nor the NC, and especially not the new hires. It's us and ONLY us that matter at this point. So you need to ask yourself, do you want a contract that's fair and in line with our peers? Do your kids deserve a good education and a secure future? Does your wife deserve to have the piece of mind you promised her? Does your retirement deserve to be at a level that gives YOU the piece of mind needed to retire?
If so, then you need to look inward and ask yourself some tough questions. Starting with "what can I do to get a contract"? The answers to everything you need to know are in your FOM and CBA. If you don't know, ask somebody.

How would it look to the NMB if we took our ball and went home? I realize they haven’t been any help but still I think we would look bad if we said we’re not going to show up.

The NMB has their fair share of blame, but this is a RLA problem. Looking back at the best time for labor in decades, were going to bemoan the fact we did nothing to change that agreement we work under.
