At which point management can impose whatever they want and we can go on strike if we don’t like it or it’s amendable and status quo must be maintained indefinitely until a new agreement is ratified or release is granted by the NMB.

Right now it seems that dragging things out under the RLA is only of benefit to management but there are scenarios where dragging things out could be a good strategy for us
And those scenarios are so much fewer and further between, and companies want something they sue for it and get it much quicker. Just because this RLA process has a handful of times it can work for us, it is severely biased against us and needs to be balanced.

Exactly! I suspect the NMB would manage to act much more expeditiously if the shoe were on the other foot. More likely though the company would just get a bankruptcy judge to give them carte blanche so they can pay out their "higher value" creditors.

I wonder if there's a way F9 pilots (as a collection) can declare bankruptcy and do the same thing...

This was a joke of course.

That’s what I keep telling my union rep. There’s a first time for everything.

I wish we could, but it'll never happen. The NMB is waiting for our case to unfold just like any other angry labor group. Our problem is that we aren't angry enough to get it done. Are we seriously going to sit here and expect potential candidates do the heavy lifting for us? Saying "don't come here" is fine, but this is OUR fight. We all know that guys hired now are getting scraped from the bottom, no need to rub it in their face.

Nothing will happen unless WE make it happen. Not the MEC, nor the NC, and especially not the new hires. It's us and ONLY us that matter at this point. So you need to ask yourself, do you want a contract that's fair and in line with our peers? Do your kids deserve a good education and a secure future? Does your wife deserve to have the piece of mind you promised her? Does your retirement deserve to be at a level that gives YOU the piece of mind needed to retire?

If so, then you need to look inward and ask yourself some tough questions. Starting with "what can I do to get a contract"? The answers to everything you need to know are in your FOM and CBA. If you don't know, ask somebody.
