You're right. I am not counting on anything, other than saving for a possible strike.

I believe the companies approach to negotiations will backfire on them, and we will be looking at self help and a new contract around the end of the year.
Dude stop posting crap like this. Next time that brain-mouth-keyboard thing happens, take a minute and call someone from the Negotiating Committee or the MEC and stay informed. Posting this bs only makes their job harder.

I think we'll be okay, that's probably not causing some GO shattering revelation.

This has nothing to do with the GO. They have all of this info. The point is not posting uninformed opinions on this forum. "we will be looking at self help and a new contract around the end of the year" is just that. People read this and it creates "rumors" and makes the committee's job harder. Posts like that are the reason the internal site was shut down.

Call the committee members, MEC reps and learn the process, learn the NMB's role, and get an update before spewing some opinion. That's it.

But isn't that what the union has been telling us?

I understand your point. I probably shouldn't have said that. However, I did say "I believe" which to me is a disclaimer of my best guess and not a statement of fact. I certainly don't want to place unreasonable expectations on the NC, nor start a rumor. My point was simply that the company stonewalled these negotiations to a point that i think has accelerated the process. I don't know if we will really be released to self help by the end of the year, and I shouldn't have even suggested it. Some steps of the process have gone very quickly though. We got assigned a mediator very quickly and he seems to be pushing for a quick conclusion to the process. That's all I was trying to say.

I will try harder to not let my opinions come across as facts, and not place any hard expectations on the NC. I am however pretty well informed, I attend meetings, I have talked to guys on the NC and I do know the RLA process.

No, the NMB set the expectations by suggesting that mediation ends in September. And every opinion on the internet is uniformed.

Well he may be right. The MEC just authorized a strike vote.

Well AERO..I hope that your time line is correct. I hope after my time here, we do see what this group deserves. It's frustrating, but after the email, you may very well be correct. If you are, I will owe you a drink...or many. I look forward to that!!
