I'll sum it up for you, and you senior guys won't like it. What's holding up this deal is the vacation and training drops. Because it was so high on the survey, we forced the MEC to not even consider discussing it. The company absolutely wants to change it. I get it, I'm a realist. It's extremely unproductive, and don't for one second think the NMB doesn't agree with management that it needs to go away.
As you know, not everyone here wants to work over their vacation. Great if you do and that's your choice, but keep in mind that holding out for our vacation system is absolutely stopping all of us from seeing a deal. Great that you get 4 weeks of vacation, I only get 2. It's not that important to me, and I'm not the only one. But our survey respondents have spoken, and here we sit, on ice, in our 3rd year of negotiations
I feel that the sooner this group comes to Jesus and quantifies vacation and training, the sooner we can put this to bed. Or we can wait for it to boil over and get our TRO. Your call.

There are only 2 ways that we will get a good deal...
1. Release for self-help.
2. Too many cancellations due to lack of crew (whether it’s inability hire or pilots not working on their days off).

As of late we’ve not had many cancellations at all (whether due to maintenance, crews, or weather) so unless something changes all eyes should be on the NMB, not Indigo/Frontier.
Oh by the way... I’m less than 3 years on property so it’s not just the senior guys that realize the value of some of our work rules.

As for #2, like you stated, there aren't many cancellations. They still have pilots trying to get on here regardless of first year pay. I'm sure they too are thinking a contract is right around the corner. So if a legacy isn't possible for some of these guys, Frontier will gobble them up. There's an a$$ for every seat. Regarding current pilots going the extra mile and volunteering to work on their days off? Well, we all can see who's doing that. We evidently have an endless supply of team players on property.
So knowing these two things will never materialize, what is a pilot group to do to get a deal?

I too recognize and appreciate the value of our work rules, trust me. But its not up to us, it's up to what the NMB feels is fair. Currently, our MEC is dead set on keeping vacation. So I wouldn't worry too much about losing it right now. Maybe by the end of the year, when we are scratching our heads as to why we aren't striking, we can do another survey and see where everyone's priorities are.

The problem is, #1 isn't going to happen with this new NMB. Their silence speaks volumes.

In the second to last MEC update, they talk about their continued informal discussions with the NMB. So they cannot be in the dark as much as we are. There must be something to parse.

Then you should have indicated your desire on the survey. Thats why we had the survey. Sorry your wishes we not the majority.
