Does the 30-day cooling off period begin after the last mediation session in Sept? Or does it take a few weeks for that to be decided?

It could be months after the last mediation session. The mediator only said he wants something worked out by September otherwise he will pursue further options. The other options most likely won't happen right away because this is not a fast process in any means. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Very much this. It could even be years. We are not just at the mercy of the mediator, but the NMB as well. If the NMB doesn't release us to the cooling off period, don't expect a contract out of the goodness of Indigo's heart.

The latest Negotiators' Newsletter is out. It's not good. Company is coming unprepared (again) and was unable to agree on anything except minor administrative items in regards to retirement and insurance. It looks like the company will continue down their ignorant path, and it will be a black&white decision for the NMB to take the final steps. Mediation is not going to do the trick.

I agree. The company continuously showing up unprepared and not agreeing to anything just seems to be accelerating our path to self help. I believe that had the company shown up prepared and actually engaged in negotiations, they could have delayed our new contract significantly. However, they have made this whole process go much faster. I believe the companies approach to negotiations will backfire on them, and we will be looking at self help and a new contract around the end of the year.

Get your financial house in order and prepare for self-help now if you haven't already done so.

Be as cold and as calculated as MGT.

Careful in putting up timelines - in other words, don't set yourself up for a letdown when the contract isn't done by any arbitrary date.

Excellent advice. Prepare for an imminent strike, but expect status quo for years to come.

If it's years....I could be long gone. Hopefully they get it together.
