Not true. The NMB is a government appointed committee bound by the language of the RLA. As a tax paying citizen I expect the NMB to mediate our negotiation with Indigo aggressively and impartially until an impass exists.
So far I think the NC has done a fine job arguing that any further discussions will be futile. Unless the company makes a drastic correction to their offer in order to enter the “zone of reasonableness” encouraged by the NMB, I fully expect the mediators to follow the purview of the RLA and offer both parties a proffer of arbitration.

Go into any governmental agency and espouse the same!
They "ought" to do their jobs. That is in a completely different area code, zip code, country, hemisphere, and practically planet as "owe".

Completely agree. Pending what I see from the B6 deal, I’d vote down what we’ve TA’d so far and the full “ask”. Unfortunately, that puts pressure on the NC, but I have no interest in going from industry worst to industry worst (save for Allegiant). I’d rather drag this fight on a bit longer to get something in line with the rest of the industry.

Signing a 5 year deal means it’ll be another 7 years before we get a chance to try again. By that time we’ll be firmly entrenched in the “plug” position. If not now, when? Do we really expect better conditions in 7 years? Is it reasonable to expect this group to wait another 7 years to make a run at accomplishing AVERAGE?
Never in any other endeavor in any aspect of my life have I sought to achieve AVERAGE, yet here we are.

This is my take on the situation as well. I think even if we get everything we’ve asked for, we’ll still be at the bottom of the barrel.

My question, however, is how would a merger change the basic premise of my post? The merger of two bottom feeders equates to a larger bottom feeder. My question/concern remains: If not now, when?

Whether we will be merged with anybody or not is not a certainty. All that is certain is what ever we will be presented to vote on. Makes no sense to even consider something that is subpar because we assume Frontier may not be around by the next time we see this process.

I am not convinced that a merger is imminent. And any potential future merger should have zero effect on this contract.
I think that the massive airplane order Indigo placed on our behalf shows their intention to grow us organically. Based on the size of the ULCCs in Europe, I believe there is room for Frontier and Spirit to grow as seperate airlines. Together, Spirit, Frontier and Allegiant make up a tiny fraction of the market. I think they will grow seperately for a long time and only merge when there is financial trouble.

I was just throwing out the probability that this will be our last stand alone section 6 negotiation. I'm all for a no vote and a TA2, I've got plenty of time. But that will ultimately depend on what is presented to us. Until then, we are all spit balling.
