Frontier Negotiations Discussion

If ALPA requests proffer after this session, you know the NMB would’ve already given the nod (in their informal meetings) and the end is near. Give it 2-4 weeks for NMB to run it up at DOT and boom, 30 day cooling off period.

I don't know what has everybody all excited about that union email. All I got out of it was that the NMB has us by the short hairs. We can proffer arbitration all we want and it means diddly squat
"While it considers the parties' input regarding a release from mediation, the NMB makes the final determination as to whether it will keep the parties in mediation or proffer arbitration."
So yeah.... I'll get the contract 2020 lanyards printed up.

I read the latest email the same way TherapySession did. We’re going to ask but our asking will only force the NMB to make a decision (not necessarily one we want them to make).

This may be true, but not necessarily. If the NMB has given zero hint of a willingness to proffer, ALPA may ask for it knowing the answer will be no. This could be a way to get the pilot group fired up and take some of the heat off ALPA as negotiations drag on.

Why else would they request that both parties show up with the people needed to make a decision? If BB doesn't show up, and our entire union leadership is there, that's a huge win for us.

It’s not likely that ALPA would take the one shot at a proffer without some confidence that the NMB responds favorably. I haven’t seen any heat on ALPA and getting the pilots fired up isn’t constructive. Our vote to strike was overwhelming, our turn outs to picket events are respectable, and everyone I speak to has confidence in our current negotiating team.
We all are weary of this and it is frustrating to see the negotiations exploited by management. There is nothing a line pilot can do to speed it up or make it more fair. Our only impact is how we vote when a TA is presented. I won’t let the delay (which has already worked in managements favor while negatively impacting the lives of my family, friends, and me) and the prospect of more delays, influence my vote.
The TA will be fair, including some recourse for these stall tactics, or I will vote no. They’ll never get a yes from me by playing these games at our expense and then using the threat of more delays in the hopes that they’ve “broken” us.

I'm surprised at the level of confidence that we are nearing the end. The company made real progress at the last session. I'm sue they will make at least a little more progress at the next session. If progress is being made, I really don't see the NMB doing much.

I don’t think there is much improvement on Ltd. I bet we get own occupation til 65 but that’s it. Our current benefit is not taxed and the new one will be so it comes out to a minimal improvement. Definitely not industry standard.
