Who to pick

Who to pick
Out of NetJets, FlexJets and CitationShares which would be the best choice, and why? Is the money that much better at Flex, and Citation to counter Nets gateway system? It seems that Flex/Citation only pay around 300 more a month but you have to live in either expensive or crappy places.

Being in the envious situation where you get to pick, what was your impression during the interviews? Did you ask the questions that would allow you to make these decisions? What is it that YOU want in an employer? Which company is the closest to what your looking for? The best choice means different things to different people. If you haven't interviewed at each carrier, put those apps. in and go ask some questions.
Good Luck in your job search.

Choose carefully
I agree with HSLD, if you have the choice, try to think about how happy you will be living where (your told you) will and how you will enjoy your time off. I guess its part of getting too old (47 going on 60) but I tell those I'm mentoring in aviation to not get so caught up in chasing the job that you forget to LIVE
I know its hard when your on a lower rung of the professional ladder to see anything other that "time building" and "job hoping" but you got to get out and enjoy other things including where you live. Good luck and consider things other than equipment type and expected upgrade time when considering employers.

My son was hired by Flexjet in June. They have been VERY accommodating in scheduling due to his other part time job with AMR. He does live in the FLL area, but hopes to soon relocate to Tx. If you are interested, I can send you some of the benefits from their recruiter, and some things my son has passed along. Joel Payne B767[ret.]

Who is this? #2 son lives in Ocean Srings, Ms. #1 son lives in FLL and flies for Flexjet. I retired off the 767 in Oct. 2000. They picked #1 son up in a LIMO for the interview. Full pay plus per diem while training. Put him in a hotel with FREE bkfst. while training. Got a type rating on the Lear45. Uniform allowance, leather jacket, free cell phone and other goodies. If the plane is not at his domicile, he gets full fare ticket to get there[last time it was PDX]. Same for returning to base. Gets to keep all f/f miles and hotel points. 2 - 13 day vacations after 6 months. Even deadheaded him home early when Katrina made its pass at So. Fl. Down side- if he quits before 2 years, he owes for training[pro rated]. Some 6 day trips in the pot with 4 days off between. They have already let him drop 1-4day trip to work at his other job as Crew Chief at AA in MIA[part time], he has to get 200 hrs every 6 months there to maintain part time status. Also, you never know where you're going from day to day. So far it has been anywhere from PDX to Sand point ID., to Houston Hobby to White Plains, NY, to Pierre, SD, to Parkersburg, WV. I hear they are to hire 40-45 pilots this year and get 13 new A/C next year. In 10 years he'll probably make more than a Delta 767 captain after the bankruptcy gets through with them. I can send you a longer list of benefits if you want to email me with your email address. My email is xxxxx Don't be surprised if you get a "suspect mail" notice. I have my Spam filter set on "high". Once I enter your email address in my address book, you should have no more problems. I'm still new at working all the nuances of this forum stuff. WHO IS THIS ??

Hey Joel,
congratulations on your retirement.... I'm SLC M88 F/O, been with Delta since 2000. Came to Delta from the Navy with a couple of years in between at Raytheon Travel Air, now Flight Options. I can back up everything your saying about the fractionals. I would have been making more than I'm making now at Delta (prior to paycut #2) had I stayed at RTA. The flying was really great, all over the U.S. Cananda, Mexico, throughout the caribean. I was a platinum medalion at Delta with a really good schedule. The only reason I left was for the retirement (gone!) and the higher compensation. Looking at the corporate side of the house again. Good jobs are hard to find, but they are out there. The equipment you fly is state of the art and the training at Flight Safety International is more thorough than the new "reduced footprint".
Once agian, congratulations and I hope you enjoy a well earned retirement. All the best. Tomcat

Thanks for well wishes. If it would quit raining, I could get back to fishing. Hope Delta pulls out, but 10 billion is a lot to overcome. As the NWA MEC chairman put it- You can' sell a product for less than it takes to produce it, and stay in business. Actually my son had a choice beteen Flexjet and Trans Meridian. Thank goodness he made the right choice. He had already worked for Vanguard and Southeast, both out of business. Used to be the F/O's usual response was "clear right and I'll take the chicken". May have to substitute "pretzels". Good luck- Joel
