AFI is doing well. They recently expanded operating area into TX and OK. Tentative signs that hiring might resume on a limited basis late spring or early summer depending on the economy etc.
If hiring does resume I'd guess it would be into the PDK base where the need for pilots has increased as a result of the expansion.

I was hired by AFI in April 08. They canceled my training date. When they do begin hiring again my class will be the first to go through. I call them once a month to see if anything has changed and no new news. Hopefully they will give me a trainging date soon.

Just got a 2nd reply yesterday from application I sent in last spring.
Said, "At this time we have suspended our hiring of Flight Officers. However we will make your file active and add your updated resume for when we do begin pilot recruiting in the future."
This was sent out of the blue, so hope this means they're getting files (old and new) ready for consideration. Or, maybe it means absolutely nothing.

Furloughs?!?
Hey G,Is NO place safe these days?! Pretty scary when a company flying one of the world's most efficient airplanes in one of the most customer rich areas in the country is furloughing... Haven't heard anything about furloughs there yet, did it just happen?
Sorry to hear about that, you guys... If anybody should be making money, Alpha should. Good luck to your furloughed pilots and to us all during these 5h1tty times.
