Default Avantair bankruptcy

52 week low of 74 cents per share

down from over 5 dollars per share

rumors and whispers of an impending chapter 11 or 7

AAIR is now considered a penny stock company

total market cap about 12 million dollars

any thoughts?

or just quiet like the koolaid

Stock price does not necessarily reflect the true financial condition of a company. I am sure the current price reflects the concern over the overall downturn and its impact on aviation.

My big question today regarding viability would be cash position. If the company has sufficient cash reserves to last out 12-15 months. If there are short of cash, the tight credit markets could make it very difficult to continue operations.

Let's look at this. Avantair reported cash of $8 million and annual sales of about $122 million in last quarterly filing. Cash equals just under 7% of annual revenue. The parent companies of Citation Shares (Textron) and Flexjet (Bombardier) each have annual sales in the $15-17 billion range. Textron's last quarterly report shows $221 million in cash (only 1.5%); Bombardier's shows $3.3 billion (almost 20%). Which do you think is more likely to get through the downturn without significant changes to their operations? Judging from this statistic, Textron is in the most dangerous position, not Avantair.

(Just so the NetJets guys don't feel left out: Berkshire Hathaway $111 billion in sales/$33 billion in cash/30%) But I can't afford the $96,000 a share.

Of course, you can prove almost anything with statistics.......

Terrible title to this thread. It implies that a bankruptcy filing has already taken place. Has it? I don't think so. It might eventually happen but don't be premature. Couldn't you just use a question mark in your title?

I can't stand it when people like to title their threads like this. It is a total lack of professionalism. Next time show some consideration and title your thread something like How's Avantair doing?

Unfortunately, rumors in business often come true.

I have heard from a few sources that even grocery store sales are down 15%. Air travel in aircraft other an airliner is a luxury. This is the first recession where it seems the rich are getting slammed just as much as the little guy.

Grocery store sales are not down 15% OVERALL. Some stores may be be selling less while others are sellling more. Walmart, for example, has had a huge boost to its food division as more people switch from higher end stores (Whole Foods) to more economical stores (Walmart).

Until the day they ******** me, it'll be business-as-usual, thank you!
