Latest NJ Indoc Aircraft Assignments
#11
UCLA is right--it's not based on domicile or seniority. Experience and previous aircraft assignments might play a little bit into it, but who knows? Seeing the backgrounds of people here and what they got, it almost seems a little random the way aircraft were assigned.

Also random... getting the call.
Thanks Chris for posting the info. That's one less thing I have to worry about until (if?) I get to training. Our group has waited more than 9 weeks for the official call. Some of us emailed the company and got confirmation that we would be extended an offer, and that was 3 weeks ago. It seems to me that NJ is going through some serious change, with interview practices, with hiring standards, with upgrade times... If you NJ vets know the deal on why the more-than-forewarned delays, lots of us are interested.

I interviewed Nov 16, 2007, had a phone call the next day. Started indoc Dec 10, took 2 weeks over Christmas off, then started groundschool Jan 8.

Soulshine,
We had a standing bid open up this past week. Once it closes, HR will know what is available and then you guys awaiting classes should get the call. Someone else posted that Aug was the projected time frame for the next indoc class.

You're right about the changes though. They have revamped the points system they were using to grant interviews. I don't have many details, but they have around 30 different criteria they assign points to (e.g. an internal letter of rec is three points). The main criteria they are looking at is "service." Unfortunately, I don't know exactly how they determine that from a resume. They are currently interviewing those who have the highest points based on their system (which makes sense). So, if you are getting interviewed and getting turned down, don't be afraid to reapply because you ARE what they are looking for--maybe you just had a bad couple of days.
It was also mentioned that at the beginning of the year they were only hiring about ~30% of the interviewees and now it is up to ~50% since they revamped their points process (10 of 12 were hired from my interview group and at least 6 of 12 were hired in the group right behind me). Unfortunately, they have almost reached their target number of new hires for the year (~400, limited mostly by available Flight Safety training slots). They are planning to hire around the same number next year and will start interviewing full-force towards the end of this year when next year's Flight Safety availability comes in. They currently have 4-5,000 qualified applicants on file, but don't be afraid to apply ASAP because if you score high in their system you will probably get a call. Get it in quick though, because the window of opportunity for this year is almost up. I hope this helps.

It's a tough wait. No word here since the email. I had a buddy go through indoc recently and he had about 5 weeks notice prior to his class date. Last I heard they mentioned an August class date. At least it's a "when" and not an "if". Good luck
