Is there much sitting around?
As a NJ pilot do you pretty much take your clients to their destination and sit around all day waiting to take them home in the evening? Or, do you go from A to B to C throughout the day while a different crew/airplane pick up your original clients at point A and return them home. As a line guy about 20 years ago I remember seeing the corporate guys walking through the FBO all day waiting for time to pass. How much sitting do you actually do?
Also, with the 7/7 schedule are you away from your domicile each night of the trip or do you frequently return to your starting point every couple days?
Finally, I understand that NJ now has 100 domiciles nationwide. I would suspect you still have to bid them however. Do people start out wherever the company needs them in the beginning or are their junior domiciles?
Thanks,

We rarely sit and wait on owners for return trips. Maybe it depends on the fleet, but I've done it twice in the last year in the Citation X and it was no more than 4-5 hours on the ground.
If you return to your crewbase mid-tour, it's only by chance because that's where the owners needed to fly to or from. If you lived at one of our maintenance center locations, you'd have a better chance than at other cities. I think I overnighted at my home base of Dallas three times this past year.
There's no bidding involved in the crew bases. No quotas. It has no similarity to airline crew bases. You just tell them which one you want to use, and you can change it once every 30 days if you like.

Son flies for a fractional[Flexjet] based in FLL. He also will overnight in the base area 2-3 times a year. The company usually offers him the choice of a hotel or rental car to go home. His decision is based on length of layover and report time the next day.
