Vacation isn’t a week or more off, it’s a CYCLE or more off. Current 12 cycle is 8 days On, 6 Days off, if you consider the 6 days prior to, and after a cycle, you actually have 20 consecutive days off; the better part of a month. As indicated, with the new policy, once you upgrade to PIC, you get 2 cycles off per year.

I personally know a guy that was hired 3 years ago with just over 500 hours, but as mentioned, the typical is minimum 700 with a recommendation, though as with everything, it varies based on business need. We’re currently FO heavy, thus the focus on higher time candidates presently.

There’s many aspects to picking where to work, I for one value stability as well as compensation. I found it funny how many people were complaining about the company pre-Covid and couldn’t wait to move on to the airlines, had their training seats and gave their notice. As soon as Covid hit, training seats were rescinded and those who had made it thru training in previous months all lost their jobs and were suddenly very happy to come back and/or stay at PlaneSense! Plenty of corporate gigs come and go too and you start all over again at the bottom at your next place. Something about a turtle and hare comes to mind! : )

I have several close friends that worked at PSI for a long time, a few are still there. Many spent years and years trying to make their voices heard on much needed improvements. Some see this as complaining, for most of them it was coming from a place of wanting to improve things because they loved the company and wanted it to excel. Some people can only hold out so long when it's obvious that management isn't interested in being proactive. CP office knew it, and were doing the best they could, but the offices upstairs (GA, RT & KG) were out of touch with reality, and thought they could get by on OT and outsourced charter. Unfortunately, many good people not just talked the talk, but walked the walk, right out the door. Management was backed into a corner. Many senior pilots have told me, another summer with no changes, and the jet program would've been gutted. They had so many 24 pilots walk, and many more with one foot out the door. No way they could train enough to backfill. Luckily, upstairs pulled their collective heads out of their keisters and made some big sweeping changes. Hopefully it's enough to get PSI thriving again.

Just want to pop in and share an update for those who have been eyeing the thread for hiring updates. I applied early February, got an interview in April, and just got my training date for the first week of May. What I surmised from my interview is that they're making a push to hire a decent amount in the new western US bases. I'm based in Las Vegas and every other person at the interview (about 10 people) had been told to come in to interview at the open house the night before. I can't conclusively tell you that that's what they're looking for, but I can say that if you've dropped an app and have been waiting to hear something that attending one of the open houses/hiring events is a way to skip to the top of the stack of resumes. If nothing else, a little face time and a chance to sell yourself that you may not otherwise get.

Just checked the seniority list, no pilots based in SLC currently. Looks like we have 1 in LAS and 1 in PHX so far.

I haven't been an FO for several years so I can't give you actual current experience, but I can get you pretty close. I'll use numbers starting June 1st when the salary increases.

Year 1 base pay: $42,500
Per diem: ~ $800/month = Between $9,000-$10,000 per year*
FO Flight Duty Pay: $500/month*

*Both of these will vary depending on base and how much flying you do. PSM pilots do the most flying/least airlining day 1 & 8 so FDP will be a little higher. Remote pilots (not PSM based) airline much more on days 1 & 8.

So figure year 1 FO pay $55,000 or so. Lots of OT to be had at $700/day for PC12 FOs. Usually works out better for remote pilots to tack it on at the beginning or end of a cycle since you are already out on the road.

If anybody has any other questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Okay, I messed that up a little bit.

FDP is about $500/pay period (every other week so 26 per year). Not per month as I previously said

So year 1 you should be able to clear $60,000-$65,000

What really sucks is that GA will pull back those raises and incentives as soon as the market will support that. Hopefully that won’t be for a while, but that is the downside to not having a union.

Appreciate the update and Congrats on the job.
