In the current pay system (what it is on this particular contract) a new hire will probably have to be here for at least 15 to 20 years to become a class IV or V captain. There just aren't that many class 4 or 5 airplanes. There are a lot more rich people than I realized before I came here, but you have to be pretty filthy rich to afford shares on class 4 or 5 and there just aren't so many of those people out there.

If you were hired today May 14th 2007 and upgraded 4 years later on May 14th 2011 your base pay would be $106,813. 5th year captain pay per the current contract, but that will increase with the new contract in 2010. You can also expect to make an additional 10% above your base for overtime pay.

Not entirely. There are over 58 Class IV/V aircraft in the system (NJA/NJI US). The problem is most of the people who are flying them have been here for many years and are not very old. Younger guys (35-40 ish) in the left seat means longer turnover times. (less retirements from those a/c). And lets face it, very few if any of them will leave here for the airlines. I'm not.

I can't blame you for not wanting to leave. Friend of mine is a FO on CE750 and loves it. Hopefully down the road I can join him.

Met "Skippy" at a presenation for NJME. At the initial interview, he refused to discuss pay benefits and other issues in a rather ungentlemany manner. Hmmm bullying tactics from the get go. I sure didn’t get those warm and fuzzys that other NJ guys were talking about. I got up and started walking for the door. He said excuse me, but where are you going? The presentation isn’t over yet.” I retorted “I’m not even an employee of NJME and already you’re copping and attitude. I would hate to imagine if I were an employee… adios amigo and good luck to all.”
Maybe its better for the US based NJ guys... I hope.
