You bypassed upgrade because of the quality of life difference between the right seat of the Global and the left seat of the Phenom?
I've never looked at the seniority list on the sic global side. There are a lot of folks that could hold captain but have apparently bypassed also.
They are all losing over $50,000 per year because they don't want to fly a Phenom. Or they could look at like they are paying $50,000 per year to not fly the Phenom.
I do find it curious how you quantify $50,000 as....a bit less pay. We are operating on two very different scales of economy.

There is a big difference in QOL of SIC Global and PIC Phenom. And the pay difference isn't as big as you suggest. I spent 10 years in the right seat of the small fleets. Most don't realize how much better life can be at NJA in one fleet verses another. It is worth the difference in pay to be happy at work.

$50000 is a lot to pay for quality of life at work. And that doesn't factor in the extra money pics make for overtime, holiday, and after midnights. And the opportunity to do other things like training captain and nrfo.

Some people like flying for NetJets and all of the jobs that come along with it. That doesn’t make them a lesser person/pilot. I’m glad you moved on and found what works for you. I really am. You give people good information about what your time at NetJets was like. However, I think you should put the information out there and then back off and let them make up their minds.

With seniority you can get that many days off or maybe at a hideous junior base and still have a descent paycheck, but that isn't the case for those I know at UA and AA who are rather junior. Southwest is the only one I know about that one can fairly quickly get reasonable pay for minimum of days worked. I admit I don't know anyone at Delta so maybe it is different there, but I have my doubts.

I’m 2 years in at my airline and I regularly get 17 days off a month with 85 hours of credit.

I’m very happy to. I worked just 6 days in February; but with a different operator & not a fractional. Sorry.
In the last 18 months, I’ve used the jets 3X, for my own personal use, with my family & at no charge: Empty repositioning legs.
It has been wonderful exploring the West Coast with my children. Newport Beach & San Francisco were delightful.
There’s no doubt about it. No about of $ or equipment can compete against quality of life.

For me, not having to commute after I was hired at NetJets was the biggest QOL improvement. With the airlines I had been doing CLT-PHL for 2 years and that was a major PITA. I live 15-20 minutes from the FBO which lets us park for free. They have a shuttle van that'll drop you at the terminal. I could typically get to my boarding gate 45 minutes after backing out of my driveway. Had gold status on the airline so got 1st class once in awhile. Dumped a huge amount of stress by not having to commute.
As for the flying at NJA vs. the airlines, the latter was like "groundhog day" movie. Same 2 dozen or so airports. At NJA it was rare to fly a tour without seeing a new airport even after 14 years. Got to meet some really cool pax and fly into some challenging airports.
As several others have said don't go to NJA if you're trying to build time for the majors, especially PIC time. Even after I upgraded as a junior PIC about half my hours were flown as SIC because we have so many PIC-PIC pairings.

I left the regionals after 10 total years (8...2 year 91 job..2 more years as a street CA sitting reserve) for a fractional (XO). I’m happier for sure. I enjoy the varied airports, challenging operations, and no commuting. I commuted for 8 years and then drove 2 hours for the regional job the last 2 years, I still prefer being airlined to work now.
Yes some days are long at fractional, but they were at the airline too. I haven’t been doing repeated early shows as I did at the airline. You definitely can have repeated long days at fractional, however I love getting a rental car and not being tied to a hotel shuttle. I eat far better using the company card than I ever would on perdiem.
I too have a young family and don’t yet know long term how it will work. The 4 day trips at the airline were nice because it broke up the work blocks, but I felt I was always working, now it’s 6 days off! I catch up on the world for a few and then get to enjoy my time at home. My work days are not as structured so it can be a bit harder to keep up checking in with the family until evening.
I didn’t want to give up travel benefits, but now more than make up for it with hotel and rental car points. Maybe a few less last minute trips but that’s okay I can plan my entire next year and have planned 3 vacations without using any time off.
PM me if you have any questions.
