Living near Narita?
Wondering if anyone has info about living near Narita. This would be as a crewmember flying long-haul with Narita as a domicile or hub. Also curious about the possibility of commuting from Japan, ANC or the western U.S.

Man, no body has replied yet. . .
I don't fly for AJX or NCA but I do run into the guys in Narita. All the lads I spoke with had their favorite little hotels, and some shared accom as all commuted. The commutes were Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and S Africa, also one Jalways guy who was HNL based but commuted to the mainland, although he was on a WASINC contract so one of the unhappy ones. If you can get on with NCA they have two US mainland bases, otherwise crewing is pretty good with commuters (we've had a number of our pilots take LWOP and go there for various periods). One of our guys was with AJX and he used annual leave days in conjunction with normal days off and did 8 on 6 off 8 on 8 off as I remember it. They are quite good at helping you out with the commute as I understand it. One thing, I am told to stick with HACS or PARC as the other companies are not so good. . .this comes from various pilots on all the contracts that I have spoken with. Not sure what the Rishworth (they just started advertising) deal is like.
Enjoy it, I understand it is a blast once you're through the marathon training session. Perhaps an insider will chime in now. . .
