Default American flying to Cuba

Finding it difficult to navigate the Feds website regarding travel to Cuba as an operating airline pilot.
More specifically, I am a dual US and Canadian citizen looking to move to a Canadian airline. The two big ones up there fly to Cuba. Does anyone have any experience flying to Cuba as an American? Permits involved? Any info of your experience would be appreciated.

If you live/work in Canada, have a Canadian passport, then you will enter Cuba as a Canadian. Nothing to do with your US Passport, leave it at home when that time comes.

No permits necessary. Cuba doesn't even look at your passport. Keep in mind AA, AE, and a few other charter airlines go there daily. I believe The law is that US citizens can go there but cannot spend any money.

I go there a lot (flying for COPA). No problem at all for US citizens.

I just bid against any Cuban flying...also, if you use your Canadian passport, don't think you're pulling a fast one on US Customs...big brother is watching.

Thanks for all the replies. I do live in the States currently so just trying to get as much info as possible. State department phone system is a joke. No one can answer my questions. If I get someone to actually respond they just say, "Just don't go", which is not an answer.

So it makes me wonder; do the American and COPA folks file paperwork or anything. Basically do the Feds know who is operating to Cuba? Obviously they could easily find out if they wanted to... but is there more of an active notification system in place.

And FifthElement, does AC do overnights down there or just turns?
