CNN is reporting that the flight has disappeared over the Atlantic. Air France is saying they've lost contact with the flight. Hope and pray for good news.

Flightstats show's AF 447 as A330-200 and 70 minutes overdue at this time .
What's the max endurance time for this type?

Default Air France Jet Missing

6/1/09

(CNN) -- A French passenger aircraft carrying 228 people has disappeared from radar off the coast of Brazil, airline officials say.

A file photo shows an Air France jet on take off. Some 228 passengers are aboard the missing aircraft.

Air France told CNN the jet was traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris when it vanished.
The airline said flight AF447 was carrying 216 passengers in addition to a crew of 12.
French media said the aircraft was an Airbus A330-200.
State radio reported a crisis center was being set up at Charles de Gaulle where the plane had been due to land at 11.15 a.m. local time.
The Associated Press reported

Airbus A330-200 and -300 have an excellent safety record...only 1 has ever crashed= on the initial test flying at tolouse, it stalled killing the 7 engineers on board. I believe air france uses the GE cf-6 engine on their fleet. If any one knows what the weather was like chime in...search is near fernando de noronha-brazil, which looks like this happened at least 2 hrs after takeoff.

Unfortunately no radar pings at Cape Verde, nor the Canaries.

I had not heard about the turbulence....no choice on channels at the airport. I think the time frame is quite far past two hours as the search area is is almost 300 miles off the north-eastern coast of Brazil, some 1500 miles from Rio where the plane took off from.

Still nothing new as of 7:35edt.

Hoping for the best but fearing the worst.
