sockeye; check your PM's.
readback; I was at STC a couple of day's ago and was told directly that SQ will not be resigning expat contracts. That was confirmed by FH, who is in SIN this week talking to guy's who's contracts are shortly due about coming up. SQ cargo is parking one bird, and maybe two. The SQ mainline B744 fleet goes this year. This is info given to me by SQ senior pilots at STC on Friday, so I am taking it as current and reliable, but you never know. All thing's considered, I'd be inclined to believe them.
As for the others;
You can NOT be upgraded unless you have previous large aircraft command, specifically 500 hours with a letter from the past employer verifying said hours and a DGAC letter confirming your command. Large aircraft under CAAC rules is 25 ton plus.
They do hire DE Skippers regularly.
Commute is no worries, I do it from Auckland. However, if you lived near Seattle or Amsterdam it would be way easier as we fly into those airports. We get an allowance for commuting and free rides on the upper deck of course (SQ Cargo drivers do not, they have to pay for it).
Housing allowance is excellent. No overnight allowance or DEA. School funding is good for one kid, two depending where you live.
Jade. . . They don't look great from the outside at the moment, but if I said anything specifically bad it would just be hearsay. We have picked up a guy from there in the past month, but I don't know the circumstances as to why he came over. I do know that at the moment the Pearl river delta is a nightmare, and were not in much better shape cargo wise, but were doing OK. YZE I don't know. YZE, I believe, is owned by Hainan Group. They have lots of money, but judging from their other outfits not great management at times. But that could be said for lot's of operations.
Good luck with it eh.
