Cathay Pacific Question
#72
I couldn't mind information about the C-scale on Prune. Is the current pay scale on APC the current pay scale? I thought on the C-scale the F.O. pay on the freighter and pax side were equal. Also, it seems that the S.O. pay is missing on the APC site. I had also heard that when you upgrade, the CA pay is still the B-scale. It's all very confusing to me and I may have it all messed up. Please clarify. Thanks.

Another small note... I know it may vary, but approximately how much time does it take between submitting an application to receiving an invitation to the first interview. I suppose it is partially based on your experience level. Thank you!

The new unified pay is what people are calling the C scale. Freighter scale is even lower and appears to be no chance for those of us on it to get off of it, thanks to the recruitment of FOs to the pax fleet both in Europe and North America that have taken all of the vacancies. Yes, the captain pay scales are the same on the B scale and the new unified (CoS 2008) pay scale, as well as the freighter captain pay.

To Clarify...
Scanned this post and didn't see the answer, so hopefully this has not already been addressed:
What's the real scoop on age-55 vs age-65 at CX? I thought they had--or were--raising it to 65, based on input from a friend at CX, and what used to be posted on apc's CX page.
However, the apc page now says it's 55, and I can't get in touch with my buddy to verify.

age 55
Its 55. The company had proposed age 65, and basically tried to implement it with the onshoring process in the UK. The AOA (cathay union) lawyers said that it was not a legal requirement, and would disadvantage the members...thus it has been thrown out. The company is still interested in doing 65 for everyone, but the catch is, they don't want to pay bypass pay for all of those on COS 99. Those that joined after Jan 08 are not eligible for bypass pay, as its not in their contract. Many are in favor of age 65, but those that are junior do not want to be disadvantaged monetarily to get it, as a delay in command takes years to recoup. To be honest, with the downturn, and the lack of needing to extend people beyond 55...which are all trainers/checkers on A scale, I can't see the company really going after it right now. Better to retrain some new guys on B scale, and let the older A scale generation retire....as CX do not have the dire need to crew aircraft, and what better way to trim pilot costs then just allowing the extendees short contracts to lapse.
