Default Lets get back on track

A question about second interviews has popped up from time to time and up to now, I didn't know of any cases but I know of two individuals who have had second interviews lately after having been turned down a while back. Just for info!

The past two classes were scheduled for 8 pilots in each class and there were only 3 on each. The story from the contract companies is that they are not meeting their hiring quota so I doubt there is a "pool" to speak off. However, I don't expect that they will lower their hiring minimums or hiring standards anytime soon, if it gets really bad for them they will throw money at it because there isn't really a lack of qualified pilots out there, is just that money talks!

Are all the new hires F/Os? I still see ads for DECs but I thought it was all internal upgrades right now.

Hello Cactus, there is one captain in training now and the rest are F/O's and you are correct in the sense that they are giving priority to hiring F/O's. The upgrade program for F/O's is ongoing and this is from their contract agencies....

"NOTE: We have been informed that Air Japan (AJX) will now emphasize the recruitment of FOs. AJX will rely mainly on their upgrade program to fulfill CAP requirements. However in the event regularly scheduled classes fall short of FO candidates, AJX may fill those empty slots with direct entry Captains"

Any idea how long it is from when you put in your app to when you hear anything?

All of the Air Japan guys are accounted for. We got a pretty good shake in Narita, but came out really well, all things considered. We do still have a few cabin attendants who have not checked in as of yesterday, but the phones were hit and miss with coverage so hopefully they are all accounted for now.

Transportation in and around Tokyo is a total nightmare.

The biggest concern now (for me at least) is the containment at the nuclear plant to the north. Depending on how that does in the next few days I may or may not be staying for the rest of the month.

Sendai is totally devastated. Tragedy on an unimaginable scale.

Glad to hear the Air Japan crews are OK. I just hope the IBEX people are OK too. As I recall, they are Sendai based. I considered doing that CRJ job a few years back.
