Hey PurpleCRJ - congrats on the call. I'm wondering, you say you have CRJ time only. What are your times like?
I got shot down the same time you got the call. Oh well, it's how the cookie crumbles I guess.... I have CRJ/ERJ time just over 3000TT. Either way, wish you all the best and hope you get it. It'll give me hope that CRJ folks can get on the big stuff!!

i get the feeling it's not about times with these guys, if you meet the min's at least. but i have roughly 3300 Total, 3000 CRJ, of which only 300 PIC CRJ, giving me only 450 PIC. that call gave me a complete 180 on my career outlook. it would literally be a dream come true.

No Purple, you have not messed your chances at all since it is all in the planning stages until you both agree on an interview date but once you make an appointment for an interview date that was agreed by both parties, at this point it is the "plan" I would make every effort on attending at that point.
About the sim prep!
Sim preps are never a bad thing, now having said that it all depends on your previous experience and if you are currently flying and what you are flying. If you have very little experience with round dials and you haven't flown in a while, I would definitely recommend it. Your sim performance is pretty much the interview, the hiring of pilots here is still done by pilots and you will be observed by some pretty experienced individuals that like nothing more than watch a pilot do his thing even if it is in a non familiar environment. If you make a mistake and the thing is doing something that wasn't what you want it to do, disconnect the A/P and keep the alluminum tube where it is supposed to be pointed at, use your PNF to adjust your automation modes and keep at it, that is what they want to see
Good luck

Thanks guys.
I've decided to go ahead and get that sim time after all. If not for all the good reasons that you guys mentioned, then at least for the bad reason I mentioned: I won't be able to live with myself if I don't get hired due to lack of preperation. Ya know? If I don't pass the medical because they find some obscure problem, or if I simply don't have the stick skills that day, I can accept those unfortunate possibilities. At least I'll know I tried my best.
I guess I just need to determine when to schedule the sim prep. I think I want to study the info parc sends me first, and go prep maybe a few days prior to heading to Tokyo. Have it fresh, ya know?
I've been looking online for info about AJV in particular (my app. preferenced them first; not that I really care, had to choose one), and I don't find much. A lot about ANA, of course, but the AJV website doesn't look like it's being updated much. Any suggestions to get the most factual breakdown for both AJV and AJX? I'm seeing on wikipedia that AJV has 4 767's and AJX has 5. But I think that info is old. It says they, AJV, expect to have like 10 by the end of '09, or 14 eventually. Is that right? Any help in this department?

AJV has currently 7 A/C's on line but as you mentioned the plan is up to 14. We technically don't have any A/C's at AJX since we just get assigned one of the 763's from the ANA fleet, currently we are serving SIN,TPE,PUD,HNL,DLC,HKG at AJX.
My suggestion would be that since you don't have a preference, you let them know during the interview. They like individuals that show a little flexibility. Good luck Purple
Where were you flying the RJ? I'm a former PCL myself

Thanks. I'll definitely mention that I'd take either job.
I'm at Mesa I must confess. When I was reading the pprune thread there were a few jabs at Mesa. Pretty funny stuff. Something about dressing properly and some questions about the quality of hotels. "This ain't Mesa-Air" LOL

A sense of humor is a requirement when you work at a place like PCL or MESA for that mater. Let us know if you have any questions about the profiles when you get the study guide.
