Thanks CloudSailor

This all happened so fast and was told by some people that Parc was the one to go with. Apparently insurance was not a big priority for them. I do have a screening date scheduled for Feb 9&10. Just applied Jan 15th. Thanks for all the help.

FWIW, Parc's insurance is not available for someone with a family. They have no insurance to offer a family (even at your own expense) unless I move us out of the country. They insure me, not them. Such is life, wish I had known it ahead of time but I went with the first company who got me an interview (I applied through both). Meanwhile, I'm grateful for the job and figure everything will sort it self out.

SKMarz,

Did you try to negotiate with PARC for more money in order to cover the cost of buying you own insurance?

I didn't try to negotiate because I did not find out the lack of coverage availability until I had already signed the contract. They said they are 'working on it' but it really didn't sound like much is being done or that they are very close to offering any alternatives.

PARC is suffering a lot with this policy because of the opening up of the US pilot market. In the past there where only a couple of pilots from the US in these contracts so there was no urgency to change the policy but the pressure is increasing on PARC for this to be fixed, I sure give them an ear full every time I see them and what I hear from their reps is that they are in negotiations with their insurance provider to offer an insurance here in the US. I don't know if it will go anywhere but????

I originally applied through Parc and after a couple of weeks asking about insurance for my family (in US), to no avail, decided to apply with CReW. I told Parc why I cancelled my application through them.
Interviewed on Jan 19th and went to Anchorage for the medical (awaiting results).

I just found out about the Phoenix job fair. The CREW website says that they want more in excess of 3000 hours flight time. Is that a solid? Is 2750 hrs close enough?

The Japanese do not flex on these things as I believe that the JCAB has made this requirement. If it says 3000, then 2999.9 is not enough. It has to be 3000 or more.

Having visited Japan numerous times and having a Japanese girlfriend... I am not surprised

Thanks
