Corporate Pilot looking for change
I have been flying corporate for the last 15 years. I live in a small town in Mississippi, the company that I have been flying for here closed its doors. Only flying job in my small town. Don't want to uproot my family and move. What are my chances at landing a Job with one of the Japan or China airlines. I have 3 Jet type ratings all small to midsize jets. 9000+ flight hours 4200+ PIC Jet time.

I have a good friend that just landed a job with a JAL subsidiary (JAZ, I believe) that operates the E-170 and his background was all in corporate flying, you might have a better chance getting one of the regional contracts (Q-400, CRJ) than you would some of the 767 or 737 contracts. The market is pretty saturated right now with very experienced airline pilots flocking to the Boeing and Airbus contracts out there, your timing is not the best but there are a few jobs to be had. Now, having said that just apply to everything under the sun and see what sticks

SkyKing,
I would say to try, and get the application in.. No harm in trying.. There was a guy hired as FO for AJV that came out of the corporate side of things, so I don't see any issues, other then the volume of applications.
In your situation, this job would probably be unlike any other, as the company will fly you Business / First to the closest airport to your "small" town.. Anywhere else, you will at least need to get yourself to a city served by the carrier.. SOOO, why not try!
Good Luck!
You may think about one of the large corporate outfits that allows gateway basing too..., but I am sure you have already thought of that..

Can anyone tell me what these companies have against military time? I'd love to try something like this. I spent 3 weeks working at Haneda for Uncle Sam last July and really enjoyed the people, culture, and the food!! But it's hard to believe that my 4500 hours of multi-engine (8, not 2) time in a crew aircraft don't count. Tough pill to swallow.
