"I am perfectly fine in China and much happier here then I ever could have been there."

Below is an extract from another of your messages on a thread discussing China not too long ago:

"Been here 5 years. I've gone from quite a peaceful person to having rage induced toxic syndrome.....

1. The spitting. I will never get used to this. It's like an Olympic sport here. Saw a guy spit on the carpet in the terminal at Pudong. The noise they make when they spit is disgusting

2. The smoking. Cancer must be rampant here. See the guy talking with a cig hanging out his mouth oh how nice

3. The way they eat soup. The noises they make drives me crazy. When they chew it's like looking at cows grazing

4. The driving. I could spend hours on this one alone. Not only are they the worst on the planet they are the slowest!!! There is a reason you don't see chinese F1 drivers

5. The lack of common sense.

6. The lack of consideration. I could easily see a chinese walking into a library in America and yelling on his cellphone while not even realizing its wrong

7. The irony. Go put a foreigner in jail for 5 days for riding a gas powered scooter but do nothing to the millions on electric scooters that cause all the accidents

8. The noise. It's unbearable. The horns. OMG

9. The litter. Besides shenzhen most of these cities are a cesspool"

So apparently you seem VERY HAPPY indeed in the Chinese mainland!?

airspeed1974 02-15-2015 03:23 PM

Yes, I am still happier here. Know why?

1. JCAB- lets do a checklist and have the examiner come forward into the cockpit and look at your eyes to make sure your looking outside and inside

2. Set the parking brake without looking left and right first and get yelled at because you cannot tell if the plane is moving

3. Get told that your holding the thrust lever incorrectly

4. Try to explain to them that your just a little bit sick and need rest just for one day but then have the company want to send you to a hospital just because you said your sick

5. Oh the logbooks, try to explain to them how you flew 3 diff airplanes in one day only for them to tell you it's impossible. Just because in Japan you cannot

6. Turning on the landing lights but being told you touch the switch too hard

7. Reaching up to select something on the MCP and having your hand slapped down

8. Being screamed at on short final because you don't remember what time the airport operating hours are

9. Being screamed at for everything from not knowing the police dept and fire numbers to memorizing the frequencies. Yes the frequencies

10. Not saying clear left and clear right when making a turn at 35,000

11. Having the most inflexible people on earth to work with

12. I could go on for hours. Yes what I wrote about China is true. The living environment outside of SHENZHEN sucks. And I stand by what I said.

However, I am perfectly happy here WHEN COMPARED to living in Japan and dealing with the total BS of Japanese culture and companies.

Nice try up speed. Maybe more like upskirt. Your not going to be able to show me as a troll because I back up what I said, I don't deny it, and again I'll put it in correct context for your amoeba sized brain: I am happier here much more than Japan

Oh yea thread hijack? How so, did I put some salt on your wounds by exposing the crap side of working in Japan?

I showed my buddy that worked at Skymark the posts by some of you guys. One word from him : KOOLAID DRINKER!!!

Sorry to hear that Holdingoverndb! I'm quite certain, based on your detailed review and also your experience (over 4000 hours on B737 and almost 10k total right?), that the SIM wasn't the reason. I'm sure you can handle a "larger" 737 in a sim session, specially when well prepared as you apparently were. You really never can tell when it comes to the Japanese and how the select their pilots. I personally know an unspecified number of candidates that started their careers in P2F (pay-to-fly) schemes not that long ago...so not exactly the best of backgrounds...and got offered a position with AJX! Really makes you wonder... One reason could be if you happen to belong to the "wrong sex", as there seems to be currently an unwritten rule on not hiring pilots who wear a bra. Not my personal opinion (some of the best professionals I've ever flown with smelled nicer than me), but just what I've noticed and also been told by people in the company. I personally believe this is outrageous, but Japan being such a male dominant society you never know. No I don't work for AJX, but know lots of guys that do, and I've been in Japan enough to notice a few things. Hope you find your place in the sun soon. Fly safe! So you don't even work in Japan huh. Why not keep your mouth shut until you have. I also see you claim you flew the 747 yet a few posts back your asking about getting a type rating on the 747. Kinda strange huh?

And your asking about etihad and some other carriers too. Have you ever even been overseas?

Stick to playing in the sim before you run your mouth

Just curious if EFB's are used?

upspeed 02-15-2015 04:39 PM

What's wrong with you man???

Yes I work in Japan, and apparently you don't anymore (frustration can be a btch when you fail a check or have "personality issues" and get kicked out of a company and country right??!!)....yes I have flown the 747 for quite a few years now (read my posts very carefully...if you even know how to read)...and by the way...yes I have worked and lived in China also and agree with most of your views about the country (but that's the only thing I'll ever agree with you).

In regards to asking questions about other carriers...have you ever heard about helping out fellow colleagues in need of a job and looking for info? Not everyone is an active member of this forum. Also have you ever really contributed to anything here on this forum by posting useful info about screenings, interviews, T and C's? (again take a good look at my posts carefully)

Probably none of the above...

Amazing how a good thread has gone into the gutter so quickly and has contributed with nothing but BS for the last 2-3 pages! Starting to smell like the other "professional" forum out there. Very sad.

MODERATORS where are you???!!!

iPads with all electronic manuals and Jeppesen's PRO is provided.
But still in the process of JCAB certification..., we are expecting full transfer to electronic media by this summer

Nothing is wrong with me. The problem is your "friends" such as Probe and Dom. Yes I know how to read. No I didn't get kicked out of a country. I was actually offered a job at another Japanese carrier and refused to fly as I had a much better offer(s) here in China

You, and the other nancies on this forum have an issue when someone posts something that is negative. There has been PLENTY posted on the terms and conditions. There had been very little posted about the negative parts.

I like to bring the BS part of any job front and center so a guy knows what to expect rather than go in there and get dumped on.

You must be one of these PC politicians, cause you sure act like one.

This thread has only gone negative once Dom started with the insults. So why don't you go spend some time doing research into this thread and I'm sure you will see that

What I posted was true, factual and no nonsense. Flame away, haters always do (:

airspeed1974 02-15-2015 05:18 PM

And in also no company man kool aid drinker. I have posted my views on China as well. I have no problem talking about both the good and the bad.

The guys on PPW unfortunately seem to be right about this forum. One step up from Pprune

There's good and bad in Japan. 1.5 years in; I'm happy.
Biggest complaints:
The overreaching JCAB and subsequent crippling fear companies have of them.
The cultural inability to think outside the box.
The unwillingness to listen to alternate means of doing the same thing.

I have way more compliments and things I like. That's the reason I have chosen not look elsewhere for employment.

Obviously, YMMV.

I too enjoyed some things there. Just as the same here in China. Just can't believe that my first post about the negatives have spiraled into war of the roses with some folks on here
