Test Prep CD-ROM
After I have gone through my ASA commercial written exam guide about 3 times now, I was thinking if it would benefit me to try out the CD-ROM version of the Gleim or ASA. Is there any positives to using the CD-ROM's instead of the books? I have done fairly well on my practice tests considering the amount of knowledge I have to retain. I do not know how much different the books are from the CD-ROM's, other than one being on a computer and one in a book format. Maybe you guys can provide some insite.
Thanks,
Ryan

If you go through the entire question bank repeatedly while viewing only the correct responses, they get “burned in your brain”, so to speak. Resist the temptation to look at the incorrect answers though…doing so will defeat the purpose of this method of prep.

I have just taken my commercial written, as of May 2005, I guess I am a firm believer in taking an ASA Book and openining it up and going through and looking at every question and if it is a calculation keep doing it until I get the correct answer. I normally like to go through the book 2 times and then after that I like to go online and do some of the practice tests. I guess we all have our own ways of studying up, for me this is the most effective, also it helps you save some $$ but best of luck on your test.

Try the test prep software...it's great
I studied for all of my written exams by taking practice exams on the computer. There is a great company called Dauntless Software that offers test prep software for only $35. You can download it from www.checkride.com. It's called GroundSchool and once you pay for it, they send you an unlock code. I took all my tests using test prep software. I got a 98%, 96%, 92%, and I just took my ATP written last month using it and got an 89%.
Also many Gleim test prep books offer a CD ROM that comes with it for test prep.

Ryan-
I absolutely love the ASA cd rom software. HUGE FAN! The last 2 test I have taken using it for my instrument and my commercial I scored 92, and 98. You can use the the books which I did as well, but the software worked excellent for me because it kept a tally of what questions I missed every time I took the test so I can review them as much as possible. Godd luck on the test. Also, you can try www.webexams.com which allows you take the random test online for free.
