With old ATP wrtn test, does new R-ATP apply?
First post on APC... hurray!
Ok, so I'm arranging for myself and a bunch of local pilots to take the ATP-ME practical test.
We're all Navy pilots, have taken the "old" ATP knowledge test (prior to July 31, 2014), and are curious about which requirements we need to satisfy.
Specifically, for the ATP rating, does the old requirement for 1,500 hours apply? Or does the new option to get a "Restricted ATP" with 750 hours of military total pilot time apply? Some of the local pilots haven't hit 1,500 yet...

There are two regs that apply. 61.160(a) says you can get the ATP at 750 hours with your DD-214 or something that says you're a current military pilot and your record from UPT. 61.39(d) says if you're going for the ATP-R under 61.160 you have to bring the records to the checkride. Nothing about which knowledge test you have to pass. I'd say all ya'll are good to go.
Your best bet is to track down the DE you're planning to use or call the local FAA Flight Standards District Office you're planning to use. This whole thing is only a month old and there are probably a bunch of folks not spooled up yet.
