Good advise. I struggled with soft-field landings when I was a student as well. I wasn't a big fan of leaving power in during the flare. So what I did was carry a little extra airspeed on final, flare, and then tell myself to keep pulling back. I would keep pulling until there was nothing left to pull.

The only thing that adding a touch of power will do is help keep the nose wheel nice and high when rolling out. Kind of like doing a wheelie.

Another thing, dont be afraid of stalling a 150/152 out. my rule of thumb is you can get as slow as you want, but if you reach full aft elevator and are still 10+ feet above ground, that's when you add a touch of power.
It's worked for me, I won the Power on landing competition at this year's NIFA SAFECON...
