Default Aviator College (Ari Ben)

Hey guys, how's it going?

I read a bunch of things on this forum about the Ari Ben, now called Aviator College. Again, I read stuff that was written back from 2006 till 2008, not a lot of recent stuff on this school..

Can anyone give me a feedback on how they are doing?
Because I'm considering that college very much...

For the price and the amount of hours they promise, and also a college degree(associates), it can't get any better.

I've called them and they were really reasonable of why some of the issues they had
their planes were down -> (due to the constant inspections)
planes not available -> (too many students renting out planes)
price -> (they keep as consistent as they can, not based on FAA minimums)

so I think these things are pretty reasonable and I could see why that happens..

So if there is anyone out there that has attended this school, recently or in the past, I would appreciate any feedbacks.

Help a fellow "wanna be pilot"

give me all you got!
I thank you for the Help up front!

As much as a 4 year college degree in Aviation is discouraged on this board from an accredited University, I can't imagine that you'll find many that think an Associates degree in Aviation from Aviation College is "...can't get any better".

Constant inspections and finding things that actualy ground aircraft are bad things?
Also - what FAA minimums are you speaking of when you mention price?

HeRnAnE:

Gotta agree with USMCFLYR on NOT getting an aviation degree if you wanna fly for a living. Now, if you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that you wanted to enjoy a career in say Arpt Ops, Airfield Maintenance or becoming an aviation mechanic (A&P), then I'd say go ahead and get an aviation degree with an area of concentration towards one of those fields. But if you wanna fly.....major in something other than aviation.

As far as Ari-Ben, and yeah...I still call it Ari-Ben b/c of the significance of the name....is the place that I plan on attending for my training. Now I'm waiting for some things to happen to start my training but that's a horse of a different color. I can tell you this, having lived in the Fort Pierce area for the last 8 months, I see their a/c in the pattern all the time.....morning, noon, and night. I lived about 3 miles SE of the airport and was in the departure/approach path of Rwy 14/32 respectively.

As far as the price goes, IMHO, can't be matched anywhere else. I've vistited the school on occasion and like the environment, the people and their facilities. Like any other flight school, they have their maintenance and other ancillary issues concerning their a/c. All schools do. I'm unable to give you any kind of specifics about Ari-Ben however, there are a couple of guys here on the forum that attended the school and can give you the information that you're seeking.

In the end, the choice is yours and you'll have to decide which school best meets your needs.

That is true.. but from what she said the 100 hour inspection is what ground the planes the most.

And the minimums i mentioned stand for the flight hour minimums..

Cool. Getting your AS degree at an aviation college is ok, just make sure that the foundational courses such as your humanities, science & math courses are transferable.

That's funny...I'm waiting on the government too!
My issue is the medical though. Hopefully it'll be soon.

That's great! My hope is to be at a regional or solidly entrenched at a viable, profitable 135 cargo/pax operator or Part 91 outfit within the next few years. We'll see what happens.

well, BC (no longer a community college) has a program that is I do believe coupled with Delta Connection Academy.

I don't know anything about the operation other than they have a dress code (making students wear ridiculous pilot shirts as if they're flying a 777), and they fly Cirrus SR22s.

One great part of the deal though, is that it is through BC, so any financial aid that applies to college applies to that since it's just another degree at BC. I wish I would've known that 5 years ago. I had pell grants and bright futures and other grants up the wazoo.

but yeah I can't really tell you the state of the airplanes or the quality of the training since I've never ever visited them.

But anyway, good luck!

Aviation training, pilot program, aircraft maintenance, air operations - Broward Community College I think is the website for them

Remember, when you talk to a rep from the school, they are going to sugar-coat everything and make those problems seem like not that big of a deal...which is true for anywhere you'll call. Try to get all the info off of here, or anywhere else you can to help balance it out.

Another thing you want to ask a school is instructing opportunities once you're finished..with the regs (probably) changing, you'll need to do some instructing to get the time before flying a shiny jet.
