becoming a CFI in the SF Bay Area
Hi guys
I'm currently working on my private, but the problem I see with everyone who's got their ppl is that after a few months of flying to the typical places they give up flying because lack of time, money, kids, work, lack of interest, etc..., I also can see that would happen to me, wouldn't be lack of interest but lack of purpose. I'm currently an engineer making a comfortable living but I would like to fly and not have to pay for it therefore I was considering going the route of CFI (PPL, instruments, commercial, CFI) not sure if ATP since I'm way too old (46) for airlines and I would like to keep it as a part time, (afternoons/evenings and weekends). My questions are:
1- How much cash would I spend until I might be qualified to teach?
2- How is the part time flying business do in the SF bay area(CFI, air photography, charter, etc..), what I mean is is it dead? sustainable? up and coming, or just foolish, etc?
Any replies and comments will be greatly appreciated.
