Default CFI Airplane Training Aids

New CFI here and was having a hard time finding a decent model airplane to help with my students. I've seen the ones from sporty's and those are just to small. I would prefer something larger, and perhaps even have movable control surfaces. If you know where to find anything close to this I would appreciate your help!

Hobby stores that have RC's. Walmart. ToysRus. Good luck finding control surfaces that move outside a real hobby store and plan on paying. I use the real aircraft for movable control surfaces. I use Hot wings die cast aircraft inside. These are just fine and come with a runway. Cheap too.

The only reason I mentioned the movable control surfaces was that I've had a few instructors who've had miniature planes with them. However nobody seems to remember where or when they got them which isn't much help. But I can make do without that feature like you mentioned. Thanks for the help though.

I got a foam rubber airplane at HobbyTown USA in Wichita, of all places. $3. It even flies a hundred yards if you throw it right. Don't worry about flight control surfaces, use X-Plane or MS FlightSim for that. Kabitz-ing with the girl at the checkout counter in a place like that is worth the $3, hands-down. My other favorite is found at Tractor Supply and the latter are actually grateful.

I got one from my local pilot shop. He has a website at www.flyaas.com.

Northstar Aviation makes one, "The Northstar Trainer."
Airplane Instructional Model - MyPilotStore.com

Jem Aero also carries it.
