Pilots in the Future
Being in high school, I hear teachers talking about getting ready for a career that you will enjoy. One of my teachers is always talking about having a job that you can go to everyday and love.
Now that I'm looking seriously into becoming a pilot, I hear over and over how the industry is declining. I'm in no way intimidated by these facts, and plan on pursuing my dream.
From real pilots, are these things true? Is this industry going down? My school's career teacher's husband is a pilot for United. She says he is making less than half of what he use to be before 9/11.
Thanks for all the help information! I really enjoy this forum! I'm already hooked on becoming a pilot!

I cannot over-emphasize how important it is to obtain a private pilot license and then do a little recreational flying to find out if you really enjoy it before you make that decision. Too many folks sign up for some expensive career pilot training program, but later find out that they are actually not too exicted about flying...but they have over $100K in student loans so they feel stuck.
