I did my instrument there, got some good actual and a lot of trips to the westside. The quality of the training depends on the instructor you have there.

although midstate has nice airplanes, and a some what friendly staff, the price outweighs the actually benefit of going there. I was did most of my training there and while it was good, I will be paying student loans off for the next few years, and with no pilots jobs jumping at the front door you can imagine midstate probably is a bad idea right now. I went to Mccormick in KYKM to finish my cfi, spent about half as much for a local do-it yourself type fbo, which works for a motivated person. I actually think I still have a balance at mccormick, but somehow they have neglected to call me and I being a poor flight instructor am not paying it back right away.

I suggest mccormick, its about a 38 minute drive from eburg, but could be worth it in the long run...

i did my instrument there too, and I remember they heavily suggested flying anywhere in eastern washington, they don't like it when people take a single engine warrior in imc across the cascades, with ice being a factor most of the year...

What time of the year did you do your instrument? If you did it during the school year they won't let you do much flying on the west side. During the summer it's a different story. Also, if you did it during the summer you can choose your instructor. There are some instructors there now that are afraid to fly on the westside because 100% of their total time is in and out of ELN.

If you are really serious about flying in and out of ELN while going to school consider buying an IFR equipped 150 and get one of the local CFIs to give instruction to you. When you graduate sell the plane it will be cheaper in the long run.

AVOID AVOID AVOID...if you are GA punching the hills, just go to one of the guys at MWH. They are fast, professional, and above all A LOT more friendly than the jerks at the FBO at ELN. What's-his-name's little monopoly on the airport there has got to be illegal in some fashion...
