Flight Training traditions
I dont know how to do a poll, (insert big friggin hint here Mods...lol
) but I'm wondering do any instructors still do the ole cut off the shirttail and write the info of first solo on it. My wife found my solo shirttail in a box the other day and put it in a frame and hung it on my office wall. It was a nice surprise, I had almost forgotten about it, and I realized its been a few years since I've even seen one on a flight school wall...Has this tradition just died out....I surely hope not

I had my shirt tail cut out, but I see a lot of students and CFIs don't like to do it, ruins a good shirt. When I'm instructing after my successful ride on the 2nd, I'll be carying out the tradition with my students.

Unless they tell me otherwise, I cut their shirt off. Then I print off a picture of a airplane landing and a nice mountain landscape take the pictures to the overhead projector and trace. People love the 'art.'
