Flight Schools in Central and South FL
Can anyone can direct me to threads that discuss their experiences with flight schools in the sunshine state , that be appreciated and their own experiences , pros and cons of the smaller type 1 to 1 schools vs the bigger fast paced academies. Alot of guys in the Caribbean came state side to do their training at Flymiami ( Deans). I got some other schools in mind such as the regular Cessna Pilot Centres FBO' and also schools like ATP and PFT in FLL. I am not keen to go to DCA or such academies. . This is the tricky part and I need to find one that best suits what Im looking for in a flight school. I dont want to make a mistake that Im gonna regret and having to switch schools so Im here to get the real deal from those who been there and done it. Im a newbie and just posted on the new comer section. Any recommendations will be highly aprpeciated. I have come across some very helpful and sincere folks on the forum already.. Thank you

I haven't gone here, but I did find out about a new school that opened at KFXE called Fort Lauderdale Flight Training. They have 8 aircraft and I was told that one of the owners is a Jet Blue pilot.
www.flflight.com
They are advertising private pilot courses for $7613, but that is for minimum hours and we all know how that goes!
But $7613 for a private pilot course is a good price and hopefully the extra hours will be just as reasonable.
They have instrument for $8992 as well as commercial multi.
Just don't pay them in advance and I think you should be ok.

Thank you for all the advice guys..... Keep them coming...
Thats a pretty good price for PPL.. The PPL course at my local FBO ( at POS aerodrome) is approx $6000... IM thinking of doing the PPL locally and then coming state side to do the IFR and CPL...
Will it be tough to combine working, ground school and flying at the same time? I surely dont want to be flying less than 1x per week and I dont want the training to seem like its dragging on too long.. But I think it be best to do the PPL and then see where I go from there..
Best regards to you guys..

I taught at this FBO at KEVB (just south of Daytona beach) for about a year...they have a good reputation, alot of good people working there, excellent equipment. http://www.epicaviation.com/
For other FL schools, check out AirNav, type in the airport you want to fly at, and most of the FBOs/flight schools at each airport will be listed at the bottom.
Combining work and flying is not too tough...it's just a matter of adjusting your schedule to fit everything. Alot of my old students would fly early in the morning, work, then go to ground school in the late afternoons.

Sargeanb, Epic actually called me bright and early yesterday and I spoke to one of their admission personnel. He was very informative and they did seem quite professional. I know you said you taught there before. My only concern is that they do seem a bit like an academy? Their equipment is spanking brand new too...
Im glad to hear someone else refer to EPIC. You're the 2nd person who has recommended me to there
