I did my commercial add-on here back in '96 in the Cub for about $600. 6 hours of flying in one day, including the checkride. It was a blast. Haven't flown one since.

Over the summer, I got my commercial SES in a Cub in Vermont. It only cost $1100 (including examiners fee). It took just over 4 hours of training. Plus, the area was full of airline pilots who spent their time off restoring amazing aircraft including numerous Cubs, a Waco, and a Streaman. Welcome to ScootAir LLC Hero's Aviation - Poly Fiber, Ceconite, Randolph and more.

Checkout both links. Both of them know each other and have access to the same aircraft and instructors. It was a great experience and I am going back this summer because the flying is cheap, the people are great, and it is a lot of fun.

I REALLLY want that seaplane rating, found some cheap places to do it, found one in Wisconsin for $500... But now I'm wondering if this is a good time for that? hum

We were planing an Alaskan hiking trip, I figure I rent something upthere and enjoy the view, but probably cancel that too.... Not looking for simpathy, I'm fortunate enough to still have a job...

anyway this is what I had in mind

I doubt they would let you rent one with only a few hours in a seaplane... That is what I hear anyway... $500 sounds very cheap. Go for it.

The one place in Vermont will rent you the plane (check the restrictions). Not many will do that. I lived off and on in VT and the area is beautiful.

could you let me know the name and location of that place? I'm from Chicago and would not mind to get it done in Wisconsin...

Thanks a lot.
