Default Options and advice please

Hi. This is my first post in this forum. I am about to turn 24, graduated from college with a B.S. in December and I want to become a pilot. I lived in VA for a couple of years and had the military pilot bug for a while but no more. I don't know much about how to go about getting the credentials to become a commercial pilot. I live in Chicago. There are a few small airports around that offer PPL training but I don't know if I should take a loan in get this training full time at a flight school or if i should keep a regular job and get the training done over the weekends. I also want to know how difficult it is to get a job with an airline? Does everyone start out as first officer and then become the pilot? Does evertone start out in a small regional airlone? How hard is it to get a job flying for fedex or ups?

I have many questions to ask.
