Erau Or Lewis University
Okay i got accepted into both of these schools. ERAU gave me 4000 $ scholarship. But Lewis gave me 8000. My question is does anyone know somebody who graduated from Lewis? Is it a good school? It is going to cost me way cheaper than ERAU. Do any of you guys have any experiences whith these schools?
Thanks

Firstly, I don't know anything nor have I heard of Lewis. Secondly, $4000 to ERAU is nothing. The flight training at Riddle is quality, but if you must go, get your private first. It cost me $4000 to do my private back home, some of my friends have paid into the teens here. Granted, if you study and have initiative, you will spend less than laggards. As far as the education goes... it is a quality synopsis of all things aviation, but it is nothing you can't learn from library books (pronounced "free"). I would reccomend visiting both schools before making any decisions, and look around at what kind of education you can get at a state school. It's all what you make it. Hope this helps and good luck.

$8000 will go much farther at Lewis than $16,000 would at Riddle.
Lewis is a small school near Chicago. Don't know much about their program but I do know a few people that went there and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Speaking of internships, which I feel can be a great way to get a foot in the door at a place you want to work, when you go to your chosen school for a visit, not only ask what internships they have available but ask where their students have actually gone. Having established relationships with internship programs makes things a lot easier.
And no, you won't be sabotaging your career because you didn't go to Riddle. I've done a lot of pretty cool stuff in my short career and I attribute that to going to a small school.
Also, there is something to be said about being able to hang out with people who like to talk about things that have absolutely nothing to do with aviation.
Best of luck!

I would have to agree with the above posts. Visit both schools; do extensive research; ask questions!!! Although I'm a graduate of Riddle (Fall '87), it cost a ton of cash to go there now. I think you'd be better off going to a State Univ and flying at a local FBO. For example, when I first joined this forum and stated that I wanted to attend one of the SJS flight academies...boy did I hear it . The same FBO's and smaller flight schools I skipped over then, I'm coming back to. You get the same level of proficiency in terms of flight training at a lower cost. That's generally speaking of course.
Good luck in your decision.
