"Anything else you guys want to throw at me????"

I think going to Gulfstream is a bad idea....

It's all be said a million times since I've been on the net. You're barking up the wrong tree if you think you're swaying opinions at APC. We can agree to disagree. That's about as good as it's gonna get....

I understand that i will not be changing opinions at APC. That's not my intent. I was just trying to clarify some things about gulfstream because I felt that a lot of people have the wrong opinion of them and a lot of their opinions are based on the fact that they hate PFT. But other than "not making the industry any better", I have not heard of any valid reason why GIA is bad.

I've given you plenty of reasons, along with the rest of the people here. I still have yet to see you counter my point that instead of paying 30k to get a job at GIA with 250 hours you could go to any number of other regionals that will take you with 250 hours and upgrade you in the same amount of time.

You can chose to ignore the advise of people who have been in this industry for longer than they'd care to admit if you want, but you're going to find that it's going to be a lonely career if you decide that you're the only person who knows anything. What do we know, after all, your situations IS special. Everybody else just got into this industry on trust funds.

Oh well, you can't change the world.

The fact that going to GIA hurts the rest of the indusrty is bad enough and therefore do not need any other valid reasons.

Man, I go for a weekend and this thing blows up.

Mr. Super-critical can't accept the fact that others can be happy doing other career choices, and choose to berate my decision and position in life. I was strictly comparing the GIA path compared to the 4-yr degree or FBO route, and some reasoning why I thought that way. So who's on the defensive? I wouldn't even say I was on the offensive, you put it out there, expect to get some opinions for and against yours.

This site is made up of a majority of industry professionals that have been flying 121, 135, and 91 ops for many years. You'd think what they are saying would carry some salt in this discusion. Instead you choose to attack instead of inform. Good luck with your future, it might work out, but I'm done with you until it can be turned to civil responses.

I'm not wasting you time, kid... just trying to keep you from making a huge mistake.

Also, as a matter of fact, I know the story behind GIA. I also know that they're as much a scam as RAA. Any PFT program is a scam, IMHO. Why someone would pay out of their own pocket to fly 121 is beyond me. I had gone through ground school at 9E, before I left for XJT, with a toolbox from GIA. You wouldn't believe the amount of **** people gave him because of that.

It's bad enough that we're letting people with a wet commercial multi fly in the 121 environment, but to PAY for it? Come on... Then again, if you're hard set on spending thousands of dollars just to be babysat by some captain who makes less than I do... be my guest.

And a little bit of advice- quit with the attitude. This industry is a lot smaller than you think, and a little respect goes a long way. So, sorry for wasting your time, and have fun paying to fly the 1900....

This is precisely the same reason I refused to instruct for free back in 2002...

I'm on the hiring board for one of the larger regionals that flies large A/C...and when we see GIA resumes from lateral transfers, they usually end up in the round file. It's not that we have preconceived notions about them....it's just that we don't want to waste the money on them failing out of training. Fact.
