Default FAA Publications Differences

1. Is there any difference between the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and the Pilot's Encyclopedia of Aeronautical Knowledge, other than the company that publishes them?

2. Is there any difference between the Second edition of the Airplane Flying Handbook (FAA-H-8083-3A) and the first edition (FAA-H-8083-3) other than that the second edition is in color?

Thanks for any insights.

I believe the PHAK is the current version and is accepted by the FAA. If you are buying the AFM and the price difference is say 5 dollars or less, get the new one. In fact, I'd say get the new one anyway, unless you've been given the old one.
